Greetings from Poland! My name is Anna Markiv and I am a second-year student at the Faculty of Human Health and Natural Sciences majoring in “Physical therapy, occupational therapy”. This year I am doing an academic semester under the Erasmus+ program in Poland, in the wonderful city of Częstochowa.
I want to share my impressions about my first month of studies here. This is my first experience in student mobility, so everything was new and interesting. Upon arrival, we were accommodated with other students in a dormitory with excellent conditions. Also, we got to know the supervisors who will be helping us throughout the program.
It is important for me to see how my specialty is taught in another country, to gain experience and skills that will undoubtedly be useful to me in the future. At my department, I am the only student in the program, but the teachers and classmates are willing to help me.
As for the study process at the university itself, first of all, it is worth paying tribute to the information system of the USOS university, where each student has their own personal online office, where you can find all the necessary study materials and get a teacher’s assessment, which is very convenient. Each classroom has a computer and a projector that is used in every lesson. This helps to actively participate in the learning process, better and easily understand and remember the lecture material. Most of my classes take place in the hospital and also in professionally equipped university classrooms.
In the hospital, we work together with my Polish groupmates in pairs. The teacher who coordinates our studies brings patients and we work with them under supervision, collect medical history and perform exercises depending on their condition. At the end we all gather and summarize the work done by making corrections.
In class, we study such subjects as: kinesiotherapy, manual therapy and massage. Our main task is to review the presentation, read at least the mandatory scientific articles (those that the teacher will offer), because there will be discussions during the class. All teachers have extensive work experience with high professional and methodological training and are always ready to help. In addition, they also try to acquaint students with the practical side of each discipline.
This is just the beginning and I look forward to seeing what happens next. I would like to sincerely thank Drohobych University and especially the Department of International Relations for this opportunity, because it is an invaluable experience, new impressions, knowledge, acquaintances and memories that will stay with me for the rest of my life.
Glory to Ukraine! Glory to heroes!
